This course is designed to give students a firm foundation in geometric concepts in order to ensure success in future mathematic courses.
This course is intended for mathematically talented students. Topics are covered in considerable depth and at a rigorous pace. Students will study formal proofs, deductive and inductive reasoning as well as indirect proofs. Spatial geometry concepts are included with plane geometry. Algebraic skills are studied in greater depth through geometric problem solving. The course includes topics on lines, planes, parallel lines, congruent triangles, circles, areas of plane figures, areas and volumes of solids, and basic trigonometry.
Grades will be assigned based on daily activities, homework, notebook, projects, quizzes, and tests. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade.
