This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of how to solve problems using Java and instruct students how to apply these concepts to other programming languages. Also, Gamemaker will be used to teach students how to develop a software application from start to finish.

Using problem solving, students will design and test large programs on a variety of topics. Programs will start as text only, but will advance to graphic interfaces and designs.

Grades will be assigned based quizzes and practical exams. Small programs will be developed on a variety of topics. Students should have access to a home computer or have time available after school. A final exam, worth 10% of each student’s grade, will be given.
