Prerequisite:
To continue in the honors program a student is required to successfully complete Honors Algebra II and Trig with a grade of “B” or higher. To transfer into the honors program, a student must attain an “A” in College Algebra with Trigonometry as the final grade, and the recommendation of the College Algebra with Trigonometry teacher.

Purpose:
This course is designed to give students a firm foundation in pre-calculus concepts in order to ensure success in the AP Calculus course.

Description:
This course places greater emphasis on the language of mathematics and the theory that drives a given process than in previous mathematics courses. Students will study a wide range of topics such as exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric identities and formulas, properties of vectors, models and graphs of conics sections, parametric equations, polar equations, and limits. Students will be required to explore multiple problem solving strategies and apply the skills they have developed.

Requirements:
Grades will be assigned based on daily activities, homework, notebook, projects, quizzes, and tests. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade.
