Prerequisites:
To continue in the honors program a student is required to successfully complete Honors Government/Civics with a grade of “B” or higher. To transfer into the honors program, a student must attain an “A” in Government/Civics as the final grade, and the recommendation of the Government/Civics teacher.

Purpose:
This course is designed to provide a more challenging version of International Studies.

Description:
This course is a more rigorous version of International Studies that covers the same topics, time period and events. The Honors course primarily focuses on source materials and readings, current events that relate to the major geographic regions, historical research and extensive writing analysis. Students will be required to read, analyze, and discuss one or more novels that relate to the areas in the time period studied. Students are required to complete the work of the regular International Studies class but at a faster pace and in addition to specific written assignments, research projects and current event activities.

Requirements: 
Grades will be assigned based on daily activities, homework, quizzes, tests, group work, primary source novel analysis, in class analysis writing assignments, research project, oral presentation, in class essays, and a research paper. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade.
