Purpose:

This course is designed to introduce seventh graders to a fascinating world of Life Science. They will investigate starting with the cell and see the connections of all life on the Earth.

Description:

This course deals with important principles and concepts that serve a framework for understanding and interpreting the processes that create and maintain life on the planet. Active inquiry and investigation will be a key part of exploring the information required by the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Life Science. Content includes scientific method, characteristics of life cell biology, genetics, natural selection, and the environment. The underlying theme throughout the course is that all life on earth is connected.

Requirements:

Students are evaluated using quizzes, chapter tests, laboratory experiments and activities, research paper, oral presentations, projects, and a final exam worth 10% of the final grade.
