Purpose:

This course is designed as the beginning course that opens the door for the advanced level Biology courses.

Description:

In Biology I, students will develop a basic knowledge in the following areas: What is Biology?, Scientific Method, Cell Structures, Cellular Chemistry, Cellular reproduction, Genetics, Evolution, and Ecology.

Requirements:

Students, will be involved with hands-on, particularly with modeling, inquiry-based lessons that promote problem solving and higher-level thinking. They will also complete a research paper. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade. Students are required to take the Biology Keystone exam.
