Prerequisite:
To continue in the honors program, a student must successfully complete Honors Earth and Space Science or Honors Biology I with a grade of “B” or higher. To transfer into the Honors Program, a student must attain an “A” in Earth and Space Science as the final grade, and the recommendation of the Earth and Space Science teacher.

Purpose:
This course is designed to provide 10th grade students with an accelerated hands-on, academic opportunity to study Chemistry I. They are also given a more detailed background in Gas Laws, Stoichiometry, and Problem Solving.

Description:
This course introduces the students to the composition, structure and reactions of matter. It also introduces the students to higher level laboratory techniques. This course is the first step in the academic chemistry track.

Requirements:
Grades will be assigned based on daily work, homework, research projects, oral presentations, labs, quizzes and tests. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade.
