Prerequisites:
To continue in the honors program a student is required to successfully complete Honors Biology I and Honors Chemistry I with a grade of “B” or higher. To transfer into the honors program, a student must attain an “A” in Biology I and Chemistry I as the final grade, and the recommendation of the Biology I and Chemistry I teachers.

Purpose:
This course is designed for those students planning a health related career will introduce the student to the body’s organ systems, their functions, and define the various diseases and disorders associated with them.

Description:
This course is for students who are interested in a medical or health profession. Students will investigate the human body on a chemical, cellular, and tissue levels. Exploration of the anatomy and physiology of the human body systems is the focus of the class. After students study the different systems of the human body they will be conducting a dissection of a cat.

Requirements:
Grades may be assigned based on daily work, homework, research projects, oral presentations, labs, dissection, quizzes and tests. The final exam will be worth 10% of the student’s grade.
