Purpose:

This course is designed to provide an intermediate performance experience for middle school instrumentalists.

Description:

This course is the core instrumental music ensemble on the middle school level, which includes the development of music reading, intermediate playing skill, instrument care, and ensemble responsibility are emphasized. All members of the concert band and students who excel might also have opportunities to participate in all-county and district level band festivals. This ensemble performs a minimum of two public performances during the school year.

Requirements:

Students are required to complete an opening audition, come to each rehearsal prepared, participate in instrumental music lesson groups, and perform in annual concerts.

Prerequisites:

Membership in the United Middle School Concert Band is open to all interested instrumental musicians in grades 7 and 8. It is preferred that students begin instrumental lessons at the elementary school level, but this is not a requirement.
