Purpose:
The course is designed for the student who has an interest in the field of music from a non-performance perspective. General Music 9 is a quarter credit course that fulfills the grade nine general music requirement.

Description:
This class will investigate the many aspects of the art of music including cultural influences, active listening, virtuoso performers, order and form in music, jazz music, criticism/consumerism, and music as a record of human accomplishment. Music appreciation is achieved through listening, research, and writing. Studies include the use of “web 2.0” technology, such as recording, wiki use, uploading and sharing work, and use of open source software and internet resources.

Requirements:
Grades are assigned based on quizzes, class work, group work and technology-related projects.
