Purpose:

This course is designed with a focus on music, reinforced through development of beginning guitar skills

Description:

This elective course is offered to students in grades nine through twelve. It is designed to teach beginners the fundamentals of guitar playing. Instruction will focus on proper playing technique and reading music notation and symbols associated with guitar music. Lessons contain concepts and fundamentals of posture, playing position, music reading and chord strumming. An emphasis will be placed on folk-style and classical guitar playing. The instructor reinforces these concepts as the students work toward individual improvement.

Requirements:

Assessment will be done through individual playing tests and quizzes on music fundamentals.
