Purpose:

This course is designed to provide an optimum band experience by proper instrumentation and use of a wide variety of musical literature. This organization also provides a core from which more advanced small ensembles and soloists are selected.

Description:

The band rehearses during the school day, learning advanced instrumental music, musical rudiments, and learning about instrument care and maintenance. Most musical learning takes place through the study of instrumental music in preparation for public performances. Outstanding students are encouraged to perform solo literature and participate in available band festivals.

Requirements:

Students are required to complete an opening audition, come to each rehearsal prepared, participate in instrumental music lesson groups, and perform for public performances.
